In 1985, Kenner Toys introduced a new collection of Strawberry Shortcake Dolls... the Berrykins! They are the rarest of the Strawberry Shortcake dolls from the 1980s. All of the dolls came with a critter instead of a pet! The little berrykin critters have a special pouch that contains perfume. Each doll is scented like her name. The dolls themselves are dressed in fancy outfits and have longer beautiful hair. A new doll called Banana Twirl was introduced in this line. The complete Berrykins Collection includes: Strawberry Shortcake, Orange Blossom, Mint Tulip, Peach Blush, Plum Puddin, and Banana Twirl. | |||||

Strawberry Shortcake Berrykins are scented little critters who live under the care and protection of the Berry Princess. Strawberry Shortcake and her friends were first introduced to the Berrykins by the Berry Princess when they were left on their doorsteps during preparation for the First Annual Garden Party - a celebration with especially fragrant berries.
The Berrykins each have a unique scent and are actually responsible for making sure the fruits and berries in Strawberryland maintain their fragrant aroma. Blueberrykin dusts a blueberry scent, Plum Berrykin spreads the smell of ripe plums, Lemon Berrykin makes things smell lemony, Raspberrykin makes sure raspberries smell right, Orange Berrykin makes things orange scented, Lime Berrykin spreads a lime fragrance, Banana Berrykin makes things bannan-y, Peach Berrykin spreads peach and Strawberrykins spreads a sweet strawberry scent. There are nine Berrykins in total. Why do Berrykins exist? To make things smell nice, and, as the Berry Princess says, "Berrykins dust to make sure everything's laced, for the more fragrant the scent, the better the taste!" Strawberry Shortcake and her friends now look after the Berrykins in Strawberryland. |
