California Raisins Michael Jackson Song
California Raisins - Michael Jackson Song Lyrics: I heard it through the grapevine Raised in the California sunshine I heard it through the grapevine baby I heard it I heard it I heard it (hee hee) I heard it Don't you know that I heard it through the grapevine! Wow...must have been |
In 1989, at the height of Michael Jackson's popularity, California Raisins animator Will Vinton receives a phone call - from Michael Jackson himself! Michael loves the Claymation Raisins commercials - and Will suggests Michael get a raisin all of his own. A commercial is created, done for the California Raisin Advisory Board for free by Michael Jackson.
MJ doesn't ever do things half-way, though - he was involved in every single step of the commercial's creation. He designed his Claymation alter-ego to his exact specifications (although Will Vinton thought Michael Raisin looked a bit too feminine), he choreographed the dance moves, he set the virtual stage - he was involved in everything. Little details are perfect - the sequined glove is spot-on perfect, the belt around his waist is placed just so, and there is even tape on his fingers. The results are amazing, captivating, and just plain catchy! The advertisement was originally shown in movie theaters. Two versions of the commercial were created, 30 and 60 seconds. Trivia: Claymation inventor Will Vinton worked with Michael Jackson on two other projects - Disney's 3D Captain EO and the Moonwalker Speed Demon video. |
