The Alvin Show

Alvin and the Chipmunks started broadcasting on TV way back in 1961. The Alvin Show originally ran for one season (26 episodes). The show went into reruns and was so popular that a brand new Saturday morning cartoon was created in 1983, called Alvin and the Chipmunks. This new show was totally 1980s in style and featured contemporary 80's music on each episode (one song cover per episode). Alvin and The Chipmunks was was super-popular and ran from 1983 to 1990.

Chipmunks TV Trivia: In the final season of the Alvin and the Chipmunks show in 1990, the title was changed to "Chipmunks go to the Movies". Various famous films were parodied in that final season.
